Welcome back! (The roadmap out of lockdown)
Today’s government announcement of the 4-step roadmap to take England and Wales out of lockdown gives us a glimmer of optimism that things are now finally on their way back to normal. We are sure that many of you will want to book a well earned break, and can confirm that we are now taking bookings for stays from 12 April onwards. During the previous easing of the lockdown which took place in July last year, our remaining availability was taken within a few days, so please book early! As always, for our very best prices, please contact us by phone or message. We will also temporarily hold bookings made by telephone for 24 hours pending deposit payment.
The Red Squirrels are back!
Nice to see a Red Squirrel feasting in the Damson Tree this morning. We’ve had few few fleeting glimpses recently, but never for long enough to get a photograph of these elusive, and endangered animals.
A walk around Ennerdale Water
If you have around three hours to spare, a walk around Ennerdale Water of around 7.5 miles is highly recommended. You can take a course which follows the shoreline, or be a little more ambitious, and take to higher ground such heading over as Anglers Crag. Either way, the views are glorious. Don’t forget to take a short detour to Smithy Beck Falls either! Ennerdale Lake is a 40minute drive from Leesrigg Cottage. Car Parks are available at Bleach Green and Bowness Knott. For more details, head over to the National Trust’s Website.

Good Morning!
A glorious 5:30am walk this morning saw mist lying in the low ground, and the distant hills of Binsey, Skiddaw and Blencathra apparently ‘floating’. Just one of the moments to enjoy during a stay at Leesrigg Cottage.
